Creativity and individual expression are central.
Students at NHCS experience art as individuals, small groups, and in multi-age interdisciplinary cohorts.
Through in-depth projects, students explore major historical periods in Western and Non-Western art while also learning the building blocks of art through studying the elements of art and principles of design.
In collaboration with classroom teachers, the arts faculty seek opportunities to weave the arts into academic lessons and values the role of the students as an Artist-Researcher. In this role the student conducts investigations and learns to see the world with critical eye asking questions, reflecting, and moving fluidly through disciplines developing the skills to generate innovative ideas, use creative problem solving and work collaboratively.
