Reading Jonathan Haidt's new book "The Anxious Generation" will immerse you in the full conversation on the impact of personal devices and social media on adolescent mental health. It is a well-regarded and well-researched text that underscores a significant debate happening in Maine, in the United States, and numerous other countries. Also be advised that NHCS follows a comprehensive and very recently updated crisis response plan explaining what we do in emergency situations. We can make this plan available to you.
There are numerous ways parents and community members can get involved with NHCS. Here are a few suggestions.

Consider taking the Pledge, Wait Until 8th! Can we get at least 10 families to activate the Pledge for North Haven? The Wait Until 8th pledge empowers parents to rally together to delay giving children a smartphone until at least the end of 8th grade. Let’s protect the elementary and middle school years from the distractions and the dangers of a smartphone. Banding together helps decrease the pressure to have a phone at an early age. NHCS is currently transitioning from a landline phone system to a VoIP system. Installation requires on-site tech support. We are about 60% completed and the job will require one additional tech visit, which we expect to occur next week. In the meantime, there may be some disruption to our incoming call traffic as new extensions are created. If you need anything, do not hesitate to reach out to Laura or Shaun via email.
